This is the procedure that can be safely performed amongst the
young and the elderly in a like manner. In this procedure a
pinpoint anesthesia is given subconjunctivally over the muscle
to be weakened. The conjunctiva is reflected and the muscle
lifted up with a muscle hook. This is then severed at its
insertion a process called tenotomy thereby weakening the over
acting muscle and thus correcting the squint. The conjunctiva is
closed with cautery thus the entire procedure being totally
sutureless. Different types of squints can be corrected in this
manner.
